A Generous Gift!

Wilderness Trails would like to thank the Ben B. Cheney Foundation from Washington for making it possible for us to purchase a slightly used 2013 van for our incredible campers.  Due to the foundation’s generous grant, we were able to buy the van debt-free.  We are so grateful for this beautiful gift!  It will give us the opportunity to transport more campers than ever before, while doing it safely and in style!

Five years ago, the staff at Wilderness Trails had a vision to cover the floor of our barn with rubber mats.  After seeing dust covered children, storage boxes, boards and equipment, it became apparent that there was a need.  Thanks to a generous donation from the Robert & Frances Chaney Family Foundation of Jacksonville OR, we now have a beautiful rubber mat covered barn floor.  This has provided a much healthier and enjoyable environment for all.  The children now have a clean and improved area in which they can play basketball, dodge ball, archery and rock wall climbing, among other things.  Thank you Chaney Foundation and all of our faithful supporters for opening your hearts and folding your hands in prayer.  Your resources and prayers are a blessing!

In the body of Christ there are many different ways to serve.  Mountain View Christian Church has recently found an incredible, and might I say tasty, way to serve the youth at Wilderness Trails.  Each Sunday, on the last day of our boy’s and girl’s weekend camps, we are invited to join the congregation at MVCC for an amazing breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage and orange juice.  Also included is a side of hugs and a healthy portion of love to be shared by all.  This delightful, selfless act of service brings tremendous joy to all attending our camps.  The atmosphere upon arrival is one of jubilee and excitement.  The kids simply light up when they are met with smiling faces and a delicious hot meal awaiting them.  Thank you MVCC for simply being the hands and feet of Christ.  We are so grateful!

We encourage you all, as MVCC has done, to get involved with Wilderness Trails.  We have a variety of different ways to serve through filling existing needs (our 10 Most Wanted List), helping with work projects and volunteering your time.   Also, we welcome any creative ideas you or your organization may have.  For more information please contact us at 541-772-2892.

In Christ’s love,

With kids back in school, some getting ready for college, football seasons at all levels, and hunting season approaching, the summer of 2010 is part of the past. September is here, summer camps are over and for many of us that brings a change to our daily routine.
