With kids back in school, some getting ready for college, football seasons at all levels, and hunting season approaching, the summer of 2010 is part of the past. September is here, summer camps are over and for many of us that brings a change to our daily routine. For most kids who came to camp, memories from this past summer will last a lifetime.

I recently had the privilege on two different occasions to give past campers of WT a tour of the camp. Standing at the campfire circle, I listened to a man reflect back on his experiences, thirty-five years earlier, of sleeping in a tipi, swimming, going to campfire at night and a listening to messages of encouragement to follow Jesus.  To see and hear that WT has built perseverance, character, and hope through personal testimony is powerful. And we can only make an eternal impact on youth through camping, because of your partnership!

Thank you again for your support as we finish another great summer of camps and look forward to starting our weekend retreats throughout the school year.

“Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.” 1 John 5:21 (NLT)
For over 40 years the staff and volunteers at Wilderness Trails have focused on filling the hearts of the kids we meet with the love and grace of Jesus Christ. I don’t know how many times past campers have come up to me and told me how meaningful their time at our camp was. Even as adults, many vividly remember the impact Wilderness Trails had on their lives. It’s because of volunteers and YOUR support that we can continue to make a lasting impact on the hundreds of kids we meet every year. Your prayers and financial gifts are making more of an impact than you know, and we are so grateful! THANK YOU… we honestly couldn’t do this without you!

For His Glory!

Challenges That Lead Us To Christ

It is so exciting knowing that summer camps are in full swing at Wilderness Trails and hundreds of kids are discovering a REAL loving God.

One of my favorite opportunities to share God is on the Challenge Course. One is parallel ropes hung between two trees which is the hardest for most kids because it takes a ‘buddy’. Last summer I noticed a girl who was having a very difficult time on the Buddy Rope. I convinced her to try it with me. Slowly, with arms locked and legs shaking, we took the journey. This was the perfect opportunity to share with her about God’s love and how much she needed to have Him as a partner. She learned Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” After she finished crossing she thanked me and ran to be alone. Her leader and I found her sobbing. She shared with us that the rope brought up many difficult memories and wanted God to help her. God used that challenge on the ropes for this girl to see her need of Him.

It’s challenges like these that often give us the opportunity to show kids who Christ is. Thank you for praying and supporting this camp and making it available for kids.
